Marshall Marcus ( https://euyo.eu/person?name=marshall-marcus_uk ), the Executive & Artistic Director of the EUYO, will present the musicians from the stage, and talk briefly about Schönberg and the Orchestra’s work.\n \nThe Orchestra’s performance at the ACFNY takes place as part of the 2024 Summer Tour. Following a rehearsal residency in Krems and Grafenegg, Lower Austria, EUYO will take part in WOW! – World Orchestra Week ( https://www.carnegiehall.org/Events/World-Orchestra-Week ), a unique celebration of international youth orchestras personally curated by Clive Gillinson, Executive and Artistic Director of Carnegie Hall. It will also appear at Bolzano Festival Bozen (Italy), the Lucerne Festival (Switzerland), the Edinburgh International Festival (Scotland), and Young Euro Classic (Berlin). EUYO’s concert of Schoenberg and Zemlinsky is curated from an earlier, all-day celebration in Vienna of the 150th anniversary of Schoenberg’s birth.\n2024 events following the Summer Tour include the Bridging Europe Festival (Budapest and Brussels), the European Cultural Heritage Summit (Bucharest), and a residency partnership with the Stauffer Center for Strings (Cremona). Its approximately 120 young musicians, aged 16-26 from all 27 EU countries, are selected annually from more than 3000 candidates. Since 2022 the Orchestra’s home is in Grafenegg in Lower Austria. Recent prizes include the Medal of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella for performances at Bolzano Festival Bozen 2023, the Golden Prague International Festival Crystal Award for the best-televised concert of 2022, and European Cultural Brand of the Year 2020.\nFrom the beginning of its founding in 1976, the Orchestra has worked with many of the world’s greatest musicians, appearing many hundreds of times across five continents in the world’s finest concert halls. It also frequently devises innovative programmes relating to important societal issues: exploring for example the twin themes of democracy and sustainability (2023 Spring Tour), while its Café Bauhaus Awards support its members and alumni to develop innovative sustainable community music initiatives.\nA spring residency in Charleroi and tour of Belgium celebrated the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, with programmes for young people, a range of community events, a world premiere by Belgian composer Annelies Van Parys, and a Europe Day (9 May) concert at Brussels’ Bozar under the patronage of the European Parliament.\nEUYO is supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport ( https://www.bmkoes.gv.at/en.html ), Grafenegg ( https://www.grafenegg.com/en ), the Department of Art and Culture of the Federal Government of Austria, the Department of Art and Culture of the Provincial Government of Lower Austria (St. Pölten), the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Comune di Bolzano, and the European Union’s 27 Member States.\n \n\n\n \n\n
