DESCRIPTION:The ACFNY will host a virtual artist talk between the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP)’s art administrator, Alison Kuo, and future artist-in-residency Anita Fuchs. During this talk, Fuchs gives an introduction to her art and research and discusses with Alison Kuo about her experiences, artwork and the future to come.\nThis artist talk is available to view on the ACFNY YouTube channel on December 7th at 2PM EST. Click the link below to watch:\n\nABOUT THE ARTISTS\nAnita Fuchs\nAnita Fuchs’ projects (as well as in the collaboration in the artist duo RESANITA) begin with an actionist approach: road trips to transfer plants, transporting entire trees from a research station,  or cultivating a field with historical seeds. These actions are linked with contemporary topics in society like climate change, terror, migration, history, global economy, and politics. Her conceptual working method is also imbued with scientific, research-based pursuits and sometimes involves longstanding exchanges with international institutions. Nature is a prevalent theme.\nAnita Fuchs currently lives and works in Graz, Austria.\nAlison Kuo\nAlison Kuo is an artist and arts administrator who lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas in 2008 with a BA focusing in Ceramics and got her MFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in 2014. She has shown her work at the Hessel Museum of Art, Cuchifritos, the Abrons Art Center, Beverly’s, CANADA, the Grace Exhibition Space, Motel, ICI, Present Company, Cathouse FUNeral, Superchief, The NARS Foundation, the New York Art Book Fair, and the Happy Family Night Market in New York, and at the UNTITLED art fair, and the Young at Art Museum in Miami. Internationally, she’s been in the 2016 Nanjing International Art Festival, the MATERIAL art fair in Mexico City, and has made site specific performance works for Paraiso Bajo in Bogotá, and Malagana Macula in Managua. Kuo is a faculty member at the Abrons Arts Center and School of Visual Arts (SVA). After six years as the Program Coordinator and then Director of Operations at MFA Fine Arts program SVA, Kuo joined the International Studio & Curatorial Program as the Arts Residency Manager in the summer of 2020.\nABOUT ISCP\nThe International Studio & Curatorial Program is a laboratory for the world’s most promising\nartists and curators, a place for innovation and experimentation. Its mission is to support and enhance the professional development of emerging to mid-career artists and curators from around the world. ISCP supports the creative advancement of contemporary artists and curators, and promotes cultural exchange through residencies, exhibitions and public programs.\nISCP is New York’s most comprehensive international visual arts residency program, and the\nfourth largest worldwide.
