Please stay tuned for more updates.***\nDecember 9, 2021 at 7:30 PM\nIn cooperation with Ars Electronica, ( https://ars.electronica.art/news/en/ ) the ACFNY has the pleasure to present to you a fusion of image and music using real-time computer graphics and visualizations for piano music\nPianographique is a series of collaborations of real-time visual artist Cori O’Lan and Maki Namekawa. Unlike pre-recorded, synchronously played videos or prefabricated material, all graphic elements are derived directly from the acoustic material i.e. the sound of the music, thus accompanying and adapting to every single note throughout the performance.\nThis 60-minute program consists of works by contemporary composers from NY and Austria. The concert will feature two solo acts performed by pianists Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies and one four-hand piece. The event will also include a live performance of special guest, New York cellist and composer Rubin Kodheli. All acts will be accompanied by Cori O’Lan’s real-time digital creations.\nABOUT THE PROGRAM\nDennis Russell Davies – solo\nLaurie Anderson, Song for Bob\nPhilip Glass, Elergy for the Present\nMaki Namekawa – solo\nPhilip Glass, ‘Distant Figure’ – A Passacaglia for Solo Piano\nRubin Kodheli, Morphologies II – Indian Summer (cello and live electronics)\nMaki Namkawa and Dennis Russell Davies – four hands\nKurt Schwertsik, 6 Macbeth Pieces for Piano four hands\nMarc Reibel, SAKURA II for piano four hands (variations of the traditional Japanese song Cherry Blossoms)\nABOUT THE ARTISTS\nMaki Namekawa performs regularly at international venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center New York, Musikverein Vienna, Salzburg Festival, Piano-Festival Ruhr, Ars Electronica Festival. In 2013, she performed the world premiere of the entire cycle of Philip Glass’ 20 etudes for piano solo, followed by concerts around the world. A CD of the complete Glass etudes has been released in 2014 reaching number 1 of the iTunes Classic charts and receiving high praise by BBC Music Magazine. In 2019 Philip Glass composed his first Piano Sonata for Maki Namekawa and she premiered at the Piano-Festival Ruhr, co-commissioned by the Philharmonie de Paris and the Ars Electronica Festival.\nWEBSITE ( http://www.makinamekawa.com )\n+++Dennis Russell Davies is currently Chief Conductor and Music Director of the Filharmonie Brno, and Chief Conductor of the MDR Radio Symphony Orchestra Leipzig.\nIn a career spanning more than five decades, he has led as Music Director the Stuttgart State Opera, the Opera Bonn and Beethoven Orchestra, the Vienna Radio Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra Basel, the Upper Austrian State Theater and Bruckner Orchestra, and the St. Paul and Stuttgart Chamber Orchestras. As a co-founder, he led the American Composers Orchestra for twenty-five seasons. As a guest, he has led multiple productions at the Chicago Lyric Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Bayreuth Festival, and the Salzburg Festival. Dennis Russell Davies is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.\nWEBSITE\n+++\nJuilliard-trained composer and performer Rubin Kodheli is a celebrated, genre-transcending creative rebel.
