SUMMARY:CONCERT | SOAP & SKIN | MOVING SOUNDS FESTIVAL 2010
DESCRIPTION:> Information on the Moving Sounds Festival 2010\nSoap&Skin\nBorn Anja Plaschg (*1990) this Austrian enigma recently turned just 20 years old but has already established herself as a musical force to be reckoned with in Austria and Europe; it will be just a matter of time before she crosses the Atlantic. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and made her commercial recording debut as Soap&Skin in 2008 with an eponymous four-track EP. At the age of 18 she released her debut album Lovetune for Vacuum – an unexpectedly short album only made up of 13 melancholic, existential and ethereal tracks – which spawned a pair of hit singles (“Spiracle,” “Mr. Gaunt Pt. 1000”). Besides reaching Austria’s Top Ten, the album also achieved chart positions in Germany, Belgium and France. Soap&Skin has elicited comparisons with PJ Harvey, Kate Bush, Nico, and even Björk, because of her inclination for experimenting with both electronic and organic sounds.
