Join us for a musical dialog that connects 300 years, with Austrian cellist and composer Matthias Bartolomey.
About the Concert
Austrian cellist and composer Matthias Bartolomey brings a bold new solo program to the ACFNY, centered around the principle of duality. The performance features a blend of Johann Sebastian Bach’s iconic Six Suites for Solo Cello and Bartolomey’s own contemporary compositions, influenced by groove, rock, and modern rhythms. By drawing inspiration from Bach’s timeless motifs and intricate baroque rhythms, Bartolomey creates a unique tonal language that intertwines with the traditional while never altering Bach’s original works. His compositions serve as a reflection of today’s world, offering a modern commentary on the centuries-old dance forms. A musical dialogue that spans over 300 years, Dialogues in Time captures the essence of both the past and the present, merging the classical with the contemporary. Known for his innovative and boundary-pushing approach, Bartolomey invites the audience into a deeply emotional and thought-provoking performance, where tradition and modernity coexist in harmony.
