International Summer Academy of Fine Arts Salzburg
From July 20 to August 29, 2026, the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts Salzburg welcomes artists, curators, writers, and art enthusiasts from around the world to an intensive program of workshops, dialogue, and creative production. Founded in 1953 by Oskar Kokoschka as the “School of Seeing,” the Academy is the oldest institution of its kind in Europe and continues to foster a unique environment of international exchange.
The 2026 programme features 21 courses held at two remarkable locations: Hohensalzburg Fortress and the Untersberg quarry. Courses range from one to four weeks and are led by distinguished international artists, curators, and theorists. With a strong emphasis on both individual development and group discussion, participants are encouraged to reflect on their work, explore new ideas, and build lasting professional networks.
Open to all applicants, the Academy offers a highly accessible yet rigorous selection process, with course leaders reviewing submitted materials. Scholarships are available, covering course fees and, in some cases, travel and accommodation.
