October 15 | 6 – 8 PM
TICKETS AVAILABLE IN DUE COURSE
Join us for the opening of Vally Wieselthier: Sculpting Modernism, the first U.S. institutional retrospective devoted to the groundbreaking Viennese-born artist whose radical ceramics and designs reshaped modernist expression.
This landmark exhibition brings together works from leading international collections, highlighting Wieselthier’s exuberant, boundary-pushing approach that blurred the lines between fine art and craft. Known for her bold forms, vivid colors, and playful irreverence, she challenged traditional ideals of femininity and beauty while redefining ceramics as a vehicle of avant-garde innovation. The show also explores her influential American years, when she introduced her distinctive vision to New York and beyond, merging European modernism with the dynamism of American design.
Complementing Wieselthier’s oeuvre is a new site-specific installation by New York–based Austrian artist Sascha Mallon, offering a contemporary dialogue with her life and work. Together, the exhibition presents Wieselthier as a trailblazer whose creativity and daring continue to resonate across time and place.
