Join us for an unforgettable evening celebrating the new edition of the Köchel catalogue from 2024, with its festive handover to the Archives of the New York Philharmonic and a special performance of Wolfgang A. Mozart’s sonatas performed by Judith Fliedl on his original violin, built by Pietro Antonio della Costa in Treviso in 1764, accompanied by Julia Rinderle on the piano.

About the Concert

For more than 160 years, the Köchel catalogue has been the definitive guide to Mozart’s oeuvre. The newly revised 2024 edition, compiled from scratch over decades of work by the International Mozarteum Foundation and the publishing house Breitkopf & Härtel, restores Köchel’s original numbering, adds 95 newly cataloged works, and integrates the latest results of international Mozart research. In this special event, the International Mozarteum Foundation will present this new edition of the Köchel catalog and hand it over to the Archives of the New York Philharmonic. Rising Austrian violinist Judith Fliedl and pianist Julia Rinderle will perform two of Mozart’s violin sonatas. The performance will be given on Mozart’s own violin, an exceptional instrument built by Pietro Antonio della Costa in Treviso, Italy, in 1764, that he played during his Viennese years, described as a true “Mozart ambassador” for its extraordinary sound and provenance.
