Join us for a joyful and genre-defying concert as Vienna Philharmonic “brothers” Matthias Schorn (clarinet) and Christoph Gigler (tuba, harmonica) invite audiences into their extended musical family. Just Fun – A Family Affair is a playful journey through contemporary music, folk traditions, and singer-songwriter sounds, where stylistic boundaries dissolve and musical surprises are guaranteed.
About the Concert
From virtuosic chamber moments to spontaneous cross-genre encounters, the program brings together an exceptional group of musicians who move effortlessly between classical excellence and popular expression. Alongside Schorn and Gigler, the evening features the Schick Sisters (vocal harmony), Valerie Schatz (double bass), Josef Reif (horn), Daniel Schnyder (saxophone), and Ewald Pfleger (guitar), creating a vibrant, family-style celebration of musical curiosity and collaboration.
About the Artists
Matthias Schorn is a clarinetist of the Vienna Philharmonic, equally at home across a wide range of musical styles. Christoph Gigler, tubist of the Vienna Philharmonic, is also a passionate harmonica player. The Schick Sisters are a multi-talented vocal trio and family of musicians from Austria. Valerie Schatz is a double bassist with the Vienna Philharmonic and an original Bavarian folk musician. Josef Reif is a horn player with the Vienna Philharmonic and an original Austrian folk musician. Daniel Schnyder is a Swiss composer and saxophonist living in New York. Ewald Pfleger is a rock musician, composer of Live Is Life, and mastermind of the Austrian band Opus.
