Join us for an evening celebrating Vienna’s enduring influence on the world of classical music. Award-winning Austrian violinist Maria Sotriffer and Austrian pianist Martin Nöbauer present a program spanning three centuries of violin music, featuring works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, and Fritz Kreisler.
About the Concert
Though each composer developed a distinct musical language, Vienna forms a connecting thread throughout the program. From Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms—artists drawn to the city’s extraordinary musical atmosphere—to Kreisler, whose work embodies the wit and sentimentality of the Viennese violin tradition, the concert traces a rich history of artistic exchange and innovation. Sotriffer will perform on a violin by Franz Geissenhof, the celebrated early nineteenth-century instrument maker often referred to as the “Viennese Stradivarius.”

Maria Sotriffer
Maria Sotriffer is an award-winning Austrian violinist whose recent successes include winning the renowned Huml Competition in Zagreb in 2025 and the Ysaÿe International Music Competition in Liège in 2024. During the 2026/27 season, she will be a featured artist with Jeunesse Musicales Austria and perform as a soloist with orchestra in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna. As a soloist, Sotriffer has performed with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, the Zagreb Philharmonic, the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava, Camerata Musica Vienna, and the Armenian National Chamber Orchestra, among others. Recent appearances have taken her to the Vienna Konzerthaus, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Smetana Hall in Prague, the Musikverein in Vienna, and Vienna’s Radiokulturhaus. She is currently studying in the Master Solo program at the Haute École de Musique in Lausanne with Svetlana Makarova. For this performance, she will play a violin by Franz Geissenhof from 1804.
Martin Nöbauer
Austrian pianist Martin Nöbauer performs on both modern and historical instruments. Most recently, he was awarded Second Prize and the Klemens Kramert Special Prize at the 17th International Beethoven Piano Competition Vienna, where he performed in the Golden Hall of the Wiener Musikverein with the Vienna Symphony under the baton of Petr Popelka. In 2023, he was a finalist in the Second International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments in Warsaw, resulting in a CD release of his competition performances by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. He has also performed as a piano duo with Elisabeth Leonskaja and appeared at festivals including Unione Musicale in Turin, the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks Toblach, Chopin Festival Hamburg, and “Chopin and his Europe” in Warsaw. Nöbauer began his piano studies at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz and the Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola and currently studies with Pavel Gililov at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
