Join us for Resonance Studies, a lecture performance by Viennese artist, musician, and perfumer Alexander Kasses exploring the deep structural kinship between music and scent.

About the Event

What does a chord smell like? Can a fragrance have a rhythm? In Resonance Studies, Kasses explores two art forms that share a vocabulary of notes, accords, and composition, as well as a powerful ability to unlock memory and emotion. Part performance and part sensory experience, the evening moves between listening and smelling. Kasses traces episodes from the history of perfumery, demonstrates how olfactory compositions are constructed like pieces of music, and invites the audience to experience both media directly.

About the Performer

Alexander Kasses is a multimedia artist, musician, and perfumer based in Vienna. He studied transmedia art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and electroacoustic and computer music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. In 2025, he founded NÉOMIRAGE, a niche perfume label composed, produced, and bottled entirely in Vienna. NÉOMIRAGE was recently added to the curated selection of Stèle New York; its U.S. launch coincides with this performance. Image © Néomirage
