ACFNY RECOMMENDED | KLEMENS MARKTL, JAN STURIALE & BAND ON TOUR
Austrian jazz drummer Klemens Marktl spends time in New York on a yearly basis, gaining inspiration for his compositions and artistic journey. In 2017 Marktl tours NYC with six concerts. Listeners can expect jazz at its best in the tradition of Miles Davis, John Coltrane or Thelonious Monk. However, he seldom uses the established musical canon for the umpteenth reinterpretation of old jazz standards, but rather, he amazes us with immense, authentic, and imaginative original compositions, making him one of the most important European drummers of the new generation.
Joining Marktl is Jan Sturiale, a remarkable guitarist and composer from Italy, who has played all over the world.
