Come see the world premiere of the philosophical Songplay Michel Foucault – History of Madness – Or why did he need so many words? by Gisburg.
This project is inspired by Michel Foucault’s approach and attempt to understand the history of madness and our human acceptance or unacceptance of this all too human side of our existence – from a female point of view. The concert evening on March 16 will be shared with David Behrman and is part of the Thomas Buckner’s Interpretation Series at Roulette.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Gisburg, is a singer, composer, and sound designer for film. She has toured around the world as a concert singer for new music with Dieter Schnebel from Berlin, recorded 3 CDs with her own compositions on John Zorn’s label Tzadik, and wrote the film music for several Films including Hounddog by Deborah Kampmeier played by G.E. Smith, “The Frog in the Pond” by Terri Hanlon, “The Archipelago” by Thomas Halaczinsky and recently “Don’t you See” by Loui Terrier. She organized and produced John Cage’s “Songbooks” for Lincoln Center and is a founder of the new vocal group magic Names with which she performed K.H. Stockhausen’s “Stimmung”. Among the many directors, she worked for as a sound designer are Amie Siegel, Rojo Robles, Sophie Barthes, Elise Kermani and as a music assistant for Martin Scorsese, Ethan Cohen, and Rob Marshall. Gisburg is the founder of the first Filmette Filmfestival which champions films with a length between 30 and 60 minutes.
