Croatian-Austrian singer-songwriter Lana Cenčić and her band Lana Is celebrate Austrian Christmas with an innovative set of original music woven into favorite traditional songs of the season.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lana Is aka Lana Cenčić (* in Zagreb, Croatia) was born into a musically rich family. Her father Maksimiljan Cenčić works as a conductor at the Vienna State Opera, and her mother, Silvija V. Purčar, was a professional opera singer in former Yogoslavia and later the vocal coach of the famous “Vienna Boys Choir”. Her brother Max Emanuel Cenčić is an acclaimed counter-tenor. In 1999 Lana moved to Vienna, where she was accepted into the Musical Theatre Programm at „Konservatorium der Stadt Wien“. In 2001 she started a second degree in classical singing at the „Prayner Konservatorium, Wien“ and in 2003, she was introduced to the Indian Percussion Instrument, Tabla, learning from Jatinder Thakur and from September 2010 until April 2012 with Pandit Samir Chatterjee in New York. From 2007 to 2010 she completed the Jazz Vocal Program at the „Anton Bruckner Privatuniversitaet“ from which she graduated with distinction. In 2008 Lana, together with her musical partner Flip Philipp released her first Album “The Dust Of A Week” in Austria and in Japan and she will be releasing her second Album in Spring of 2013. A recipient of the „Start Stipendium 2010“, a grant for young promising artists from the Austrian Cultural Ministry and a grant from the cultural association „UNISONO“, Lana moved to New York to pursue her dream as a musician.
