CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES | CONCERT | LINDA HEDLUND & ANDY FELDBAU

Acclaimed Finnish violinist Linda Hedlund, a graduate from the Vienna University of Music and performing Arts, has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at many prestigious international festivals including Helsinki Festival (Finland), Musica Nova (Helsinki), Grafenegg Festival (Austria). Together with the young rising Israeli star pianist and composer Andy Feldbau, she will present a program of selected pieces by Gottfried von Einem, Johannes Brahms, Fritz Kreisler, and Mozart.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Linda Hedlund received her first violin lessons in Finland at the age of five. She received a scholarship to study at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with prof. Sergei Kravtchenko (1995-1996) and continued her studies at the University for Music and performing Arts in Vienna. She also studied in Berlin, and has participated at master classes with a number of distinguished individuals in the field. Linda Hedlund graduated from the University of Music and performing Arts in Vienna in 2002 (Master of Arts) and holds a Doctorate in Music from the Sibelius-Academy Finland where she also has been working as a Fellow. She also frequently performs contemporary music and is currently commissioning a violin concerto by composer Jimmy López. In the upcoming concert season she will also be making her debut at Carnegie Hall with pianist Andy Feldbau. She founded the Emäsalo Music Festival in 2007, taking place each summer in southern Finland A new CD together with guitarist Otto Tolonen is being released in the summer of 2011 for Classic Concert Music Group, Salzburg.

Israeli pianist and composer Andy Feldbau has given festival recitals and performed live broadcasts on WQXR and the Israel Radio, Carnegie Hall, Tel Aviv Museum, Jerusalem Theatre, and served as an accompanist to several choirs and the Tel-Hai International Master Classes for pianists. In recent years, Mr. Feldbau won First Prize in the American Protege International Piano and Strings Competition, various competitions in Israel and Russia, as well as excellence Scholarships awarded by the America-Israel Culture Fund and the Hebrew Free Loan Society. Mr. Feldbau has participated in Master Classes under Leslie Howard, Staffan Scheja, Alon Goldstein, Daniel Hoechster and Gilad Mishori. As a composer, he has written many pieces for the piano, most of which he has performed and recorded. He has also created pieces for choir and piano, various solo instruments, chamber music, orchestrations and arrangements for classic modern compositions. He has composed and performed various cadenzas to piano concertos of Mozart, Haydn and Rachmaninoff. Mr. Feldbau was personal assistant of the Israeli composer Gil Shohat. Mr. Feldbau is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at The Juilliard School. In 2008 he received his Bachelor’s degree from the Buchman-Mehta School of Music.
