ACFNY RECOMMENDS | LECTURE | VALENTIN INZKO | A NEW REGIONAL ARCHITECTURE IN THE WESTERN BALKANS

A lecture by Ambassador Valentin Inzko, the High Representative for Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Valentin Inzko is an Austrian diplomat of Carinthian Slovene origin. He is currently serving as the High Representative of Bosnia-Herzegovina. When he took over that role in 2009 he stated: “I believe in partnership and I see myself as your partner, but I won’t hesitate to use my powers if it proves to be necessary. That will not be my first choice, but rather the ultimate means which I won’t hesitate to use.” Inzko further promised to work closely with Bosnian politicians to help them solve existing problems, warning of the ever growing impact of the global crisis and stressing the need to respond to it with the right measures.

Inzko was born into a Slovene-speaking family in Klagenfurt, Carinthia. His father, Valentin Inzko Sr., was a renowned cultural and political activist of the local Slovene minority.
