Internationally acclaimed Vienna-based pianist Meira Farkas returns to Carnegie Hall after 50 years for a one-night-only performance featuring Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Meira Farkas was born in Arad, Romania. At the age of 15, she emigrated to Israel together with her family. Her exceptional talent was discovered early in life. Subsequent to her studies at the Academy of Music in Tel Aviv under Ilona Vincze-Kraus (piano) and Ödön Pártos (chamber music), Farkas received scholarships at the Mannes College of Music (New York) and at the Juilliard Music School (New York) where she studied under the supervision of Leonard Shure, Rosina Lhévinne and Ilona Kabos.
Meira Farkas’ musical development was encouraged and supported by the great musicians of her time. She took part in Wilhelm Kempff’s Beethoven master classes (Positano, Italy) and was invited to numerous internationally renowned festivals including the Chamber Music Festival of Prussia Cove (Cornwall, Great Britain) under Sándor Végh´s artistic direction, to the Marlboro Music Festival (Marlboro, USA), the Tibor Varga Festival in Sion (Switzerland) as well as the Festival Casals (Puerto Rico). Especially in Vienna, her home town of choice, the Romanian-born is known and celebrated for her performances at the Vienna Musikverein, the Konzerthaus and the Wiener Festwochen.
