The NYC Indie Film Festival aims to showcase the best independent films, from all around the world, to the public and the entertainment industry in New York City. With panels, parties and a week-long gathering of fellow indie filmmakers, the 7th Annual New York City Independent Film Festival takes place April 27 – May 1, 2016. Eager to embrace fresh ideas and storytelling, the NYC Indie Film Festival will be screening narratives, documentaries, short films, super shorts, animations and music videos.
The five Austrian films in the festival program deserve a special mention:

Pitter Patter Goes My Heart (20 min)

Cast: Vicky Krieps, Michael Maertens, Max Reimann, Tom Lass, Martina Schöne-Radunski, Peter Fricke
The hopelessly romantic Lisa takes desperate measures to win her former lover, Alf, back. But the fact that Alf already has a new girl at his side, and that Lisa needs to bring her alcoholic father to an anti-varicose campaign photo shooting without letting him know, is not particularly helping. The tragedy takes its course and Lisa finds her bitter, almost operatic end.

Traceroute wants to chase and question the ghosts of nerddom’s past, present and future. An exhilarating tour de farce into the guts of trauma, obsession and cognitive capitalism.

A 16mm color film that documented chemical processes through a microscope has to experience these processes itself. Aufgelöst is a dyadic study showing change as film and video as constant. Change is constant.

Song is taken from the 2nd album “The Sum Of My Parts”. The Ripper (Gimme Back My Love) is a dark song about schizophrenia, unrequited love, and murder.

The Words Hear the Light (DIE WÖRTER HÖREN DAS LICHT) (18 min)
Directed by: Diego Fiori and Olga Pohankova
“Quod est in speculo ut in subiecto.” According to medieval philosophers, being in a subject is an insubstantial way of being that does not exist in itself, this one is in something else. In this short film, the nature of images is questioned, particularly one of the reflected corpses in the mirror. What is their nature? How can a mirror with his two-dimensional character transliterate three-dimensional images? The essence of the image, visible on the mirror surface, is a continuous formation in absence of tangible substance. A tribute and at the same time a contestation of J. Cocteau.
