ACFNY SUPPORTED | FLICKERING CAVE SOUNDS: IMPROVISED SOUND AND POETRY
Text fragments, short cuts, cut-ups and sound samples from 20-30 CDs are spontaneously selected, emphasizing, interpreting and counterpointing each other. A simultaneously generated morphological text and soundscape, richly allusive, sculpture-like, filmic, cross-linking, floating. Whirring visions form a coup of poetic escalation.
Thomas Antonic & Michael Fischer have been performing together since 2015 at festivals, in art spaces, clubs, galleries, libraries, and radio shows.
With ‘flickering cave sounds’ Thomas Antonic and Michael Fischer continue their collaboration on explorations on the interweaving and mutual charging of musical texture and language-sound, staged in an ad hoc setting. The ‘flickering cave sounds’ California tour will also show Michael Fischer’s new contextualization of the saxophone and the development of the feedback_saxophone.

ABOUT THE ARTISTSMichael Fischer is an Austrian musician-composer, who works on the immanence of language within sounds, their sculptural and dramatic evidence, in improvised and experimental music/noise/soundscapes on the tenor saxophone, the violin and conducted instant compositions; since 1999 he has been involved in the electro-acoustic phenomenon of the feedback as the developer of the ‘feedback_saxophone’.
Thomas Antonic is a poet, musician, writer, and filmmaker. He earned a Ph.D. in German literature and philosophy and works on experimental literature, multi-media intersections of music, visual arts, poetry, cut-up, improvisation, spontaneous prose, and other principles of coincidence. His numerous publications in German and English include most recently “Flickering Cave Paintings of Noxious Nightbirds” (2017).
