ACFNY SUPPORTED | JOACHIM ECKL AT CO-INCIDENCE FESTIVAL 2018

The ACFNY is pleased to support Austrian artist Joachim Eckl as Artist in Residence at the 2018 Co-Incidence Festival.

ABOUT THE CO-INCIDENCE FESTIVAL

The Co-Incidence Festival is a gathering of experimental composer-performers hosted by Non-Event at Washington Street Gallery in Somerville, MA. This project is based on an expanded view of what constitutes art, music, and the traditional concert. Following the example of the revolutionary arts community Black Mountain College, it aims to bring together a group of radical artists operating in the boundary-zones of their practice to take part in a festival curated as “social sculpture”. This concept can be found within the concepts of “bridge” and “swarm” as well as growing into one with them. The bridge becomes the swarm becomes a social sculpture, yet the swarm is always implied by the bridge just as the social sculpture is implied by both. Common to all of these processes is the act of listening. The “bridge”, “swarm”, and “social sculpture” all arise from different modes of listening (1. listening to things, 2. listening into things, 3. listening to an inner voice).

All events are free and anyone is welcome to join the gatherings at any time during the festival.

Eckl has been working for over 20 years in various positions and roles in the art world. In addition to implementing over 100 of his own projects, he has been involved in large-scale projects with Tony Cragg, Jeff Koons, Christo & Jean Claude and Klaus Rinke.
