ACFNY SUPPORTED l STEFAN DONNER: ORGAN RECITAL
On May 3, Austrian organist Stefan Donner will present a lunchtime recital on the Walcker organ at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 308 West 46th Street New York at 1:00 pm. The program will feature Austrian music of the 20th/ and 21st centuries including pieces by Johann Nepomuk David and Wolfgang Sauseng amongst others.
On the same day, Mr. Donner will also perform as part of the Spring Recital Series at St. Malachy’s Roman Catholic Church – The Actor’s Chapel on 239 W 49th St, NYC at 6:30 pm. The recital on the Paul Creston Memorial Pipe Organ will last 30 minutes and will include works by Louis Vierne and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy.
Besides his performances at St. Luke’s Lutheran and St. Malachy’s Mr. Donner will also appear with the Music at the Monastery recital series at the Franciscan Monastery in Washington DC on May 5 at 4:00 pm.
ABOUT
Stefan Donner earned degrees from the University of Music Vienna (highest honors) where he studied organ and piano. He also received a Master’s degree in organ performance from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Stefan has also participated in masterclasses with Jacques van Oortmerssen, Edorado Bellotti and Olivier Latry. He received a 2014-15 Fulbright grant to study organ and harpsichord at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Stefan is the recipient of various awards, including first place in the 2010 Franz-Schmidt-Organ Competition (Austria), and third prize in the 2011 Dublin International Organ Competition. His CD recordings on the Dacci organ of St. Salvator Vienna and on the Buckow organ at the Technical Museum Vienna document his artistic work as a concert organist. Stefan has performed extensively in Europe, Israel, the US and Australia. As a soloist, he is frequently invited to perform in prestigious organ festivals such as Berliner Orgelpower 2012, 2016 Terra Sancta Organ Festival, 2017 Kremnica Castle Organ Festival and the 2017 Tallinn Organ Festival. In 2017 he was invited to lecture on J. S. Bach’s Organ-Triosonatas at a Secondary School of Music in Krakow, Poland.
