ACFNY SUPPORTED | SYMPOSIUM | INGEBORG BACHMANN | WRITING AGAINST WAR

Lay down your arms: Writing Against War“: This international conference aims to explore the life, work, and intellectual legacy of the celebrated Austrian poet, Ingeborg Bachmann (1926-1973), in light of her personal experience with the devastation of the Second World War and her abhorrence of violence on global, national, civil, institutional, and family levels. The conference organizers expect to bring leading scholars in the field of Bachmann studies and modern German philology together with talented young scholars from Germany, Austria, Japan, and the US. Bachmann’s literature and theoretical works will be explored across the disciplines: from German studies to comparative literature, philosophy, musicology and the visual arts.
