ARTIST TALK | YASMINA HADDAD & SARAH PICHLKOSTNER IN CONVERSATION WITH KARI CONTE

In conjunction with the exhibition Resident Alien: Austrian Architects in America, this event will feature presentations by Yasmina Haddad and Sarah Pichlkostner, two Austrian artists currently in residence at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in Brooklyn, supported by the BKA – Bundeskanzleramt Österreich Kunst und Kultur (Arts and Culture Division of the Federal Chancellery of Austria). Both artists will address forms, materials and spatial concerns in their work, as well as the merits and challenges of living and working in a new culture. Haddad’s artistic practice is based on photography and sometimes extends to different media such as sculpture, sound and set design. The subjects she depicts often derive from the fields of fashion and theater, and are portrayed in stage-like situations. Pichlkostner creates sculptures and environments through which she investigates the representation of invisible processes such as the transmission of energy, the passage of time and our psychological behavior towards materials and objects.
