The Austrian Cultural Forum New York Chamber Music Series presents cellist Susan Salm and pianist Lynn Stodola in concert, performing Ludwig van Beethoven, Rainer Bischof and Wolfgang Florey.

Ludwig van Beethoven: Sonata No. 1 in F Major, Op. 5 #1 for cello and piano
Rainer Bischof: “Epigramme” (2006) 10 Variations for unaccompanied cello, composed for Susan Salm
Wolfgang Florey: “Notturno”(1997) for unaccompanied cello, composed for Susan Salm
Ludwig van Beethoven: Sonata No. 5 in D Major, Op. 102 #2 for cello and piano

Hailed by critics as “a cellist of very great significance” and “brilliant and deeply moving,” Susan Salm received her early musical training in her native Chicago and later studied at the Juilliard School in New York with Leonard Rose and Harvey Shapiro. She was presented with the coveted Concert Artists Guild Award in her New York City debut at Carnegie Hall. Since then, she has appeared as a soloist with major orchestras, including l’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the BBC Orchestra, and the Berlin Symphony. Composers who have written solo works for Ms. Salm include Dina Koston, Wolfgang Florey, Laura Kaminsky, and Rainer Bischof.

Chicago-born pianist Lynn Stodola received her early musical training at the American Conservatory of Music and completed her graduate studies at the Juilliard School in New York. While in New York, she assisted as the official accompanist in the Master Classes of Leonard Rose, Nathan Milstein, Ivan Galamian, and Henryk Szerying, gaining wide recognition as a chamber musician, recitalist, and soloist. She is currently Associate Professor of Music and director of the “Chamber Music at Dalhousie” concert series.
