CONCERT | CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES | DANIELA KOCH & CHRISTIAN REIF

For the past two years, the Austrian Cultural Forum has been collaborating with the renowned Konzerthaus Wien (http://konzerthaus.at/) to bring a series of special concerts to New York. For this installment, which is also part of our ongoing Chamber Music Series, young Austrian flutist Daniela Koch, will perform with pianist Christian Reif. The concert will include pieces by MozartFauré, as well as more contemporary compositions by the likes of Dutilleux, and Werner Pirchner. Koch and Reif will also perform concerts in Annapolis, MD, and at the Austrian Cultural Forum in Washington D.C. (acfdc.org).

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Born 1989 in Kitzbühel, Austria, Daniela Koch, studied flute at the renowned Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Michael Martin Kofler. She won her first competitive awards at the “Prima la musica” national youth music competition, and in 2007 she won third prize at the “1st International Crusell Flute Competition” in Finland, despite being the youngest candidate. In 2009, Koch won the first prize at the “7th Kobe International Flute Competition” in Japan.
Daniela Koch has performed solo concertos in Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Finland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and Japan with various orchestras, including the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, the European Union Chamber Orchestra, the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra Leipzig, the Kobe City Chamber Orchestra, as well as the Virtuosi di Kuhmo and InnStrumenti, among others.

Christian Reif
 (born 1989 in Rosenheim, Germany) has been studying conducting with Dennis Russell Davies and Jorge Rotter at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg since 2008. The foundation for his music studies was laid at an early age by piano, clarinet and saxophone lessons. Since 2004, he has been studying piano with Georg Steinschaden.
The young pianist is a popular chamber music partner, Lied accompanist and repetiteur, and performs regularly with Daniela Koch, the violinist Thomas Reif, and soprano Barbara Bonney. He has given concerts as a pianist in the German National Youth Orchestra (2007), at the jubilee concert of the festival series Festivo (2007), and at the opening concert of the Salzburg Festival 2008 in the House for Mozart. Concerts have taken Christian Reif to Austria, Italy, England, Slovenia, and the Netherlands. Reif has a wide ranging repertoire from baroque to modern and entertainment music in various chamber music groups and ensembles.
