Join us for the opening of two dots one line, a comprehensive exhibition dedicated to Austrian artist Ernst Caramelle, one of the most influential voices in contemporary conceptual art. Presented at the Austrian Cultural Forum New York, the exhibition offers a dynamic exploration of Caramelle’s five-decade-spanning practice, featuring works on paper, video installations, publications, and his signature gesso and sun pieces. Drawing inspiration from the architecture of the ACFNY building, two dots one line also presents a new site-specific intervention created especially for this space.

Known for blending intellectual precision with playful creativity, Caramelle’s work challenges artistic conventions while engaging viewers in a dialogue about perception, meaning, and the role of the artist. At the heart of the exhibition is the question that runs through Caramelle’s entire oeuvre: What is art? Through layered compositions, geometric forms, and a unique use of light and color, his works transform simplicity into a poetic reflection on the possibilities of artistic expression.
