Constantly devoted to the artistic interpretation and expansion of experiential space, Klangforum Wien – one of the internationally most renowned ensembles for contemporary music – presents its recently founded Friends of Klangforum Vienna.
About the Concert
The initiative bridges American and European contemporary music through strategic commissioning of the next generation of American composers, facilitating performances at leading American concert institutions, fostering transatlantic artistic collaboration, and providing knowledge transfer to emerging interpreters. This concert invites its guests to take part in fostering the next generation of American composers and building bridges between American and European contemporary music. About the Ensemble
Open-minded, virtuosic in performance and aurally perceptive, Klangforum Wien constantly explores new horizons of artistic creativity together with the most eminent composers of our time. A performance of Klangforum Wien is an event in the best sense of the word. It offers a sensual experience, immediate and inescapable; the novelty in its music speaks, acts and beguiles. Ever since it was founded by Beat Furrer in 1985, the ensemble of 25 musicians from 13 countries has been making music history: It has received a great number of awards and distinctions, has presented around 600 world premieres, boasts an extensive discography of more than 90 releases, and appears at the most prestigious concert venues and major music festivals. Klangforum Wien has its own annual concert series at the Wiener Konzerthaus. Since 2009, the ensemble has been serving in a collective professorship at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Graz. In 2025, Friends of Klangforum Vienna has been founded.
