Join us for the second day of this year’s Moving Sounds Festival: Ars Electronica / Eyebeam Edition. On this evening the ACFNY will present Austrian artist Josef Klammer and Curated Artist by POWRPLNT: PAUL.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Josef Klammer was born in 1958 in Lienz, Austria. He is a photographer, curator, composer and drummer. As an Austrian musician and media artist, he has been continuously working on the tonal enhancement of his instrumentation, as well as the exploration and transformation of media-immanent music potentials since the mid-1980s. Klammer has presented exhibitions, sound installations, and music projects in Vienna, Hong Kong, Seville, New York, and many other cities. He has composed music for TV and movies; radio plays and radio programs for the ORF (Austrian Broadcast Corporation); and stage music for theatre productions in Hamburg, Stuttgart, Schwerin, Gera, Ljubljana, Klagenfurt, Linz, and Graz. Klammer performs with a wide variety of ensembles playing new, improvised electronic and experimental music, and is the curator of diverse festivals and inventive music projects and workshops in schools. In 2015, he received the Award of Distinction for the project “Drumming Is an Elastic Concept” at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz.
PAUL is the saxophone serenading pseudonym of artist Angelina Dreem. She creates space for vulnerable improvisations, using digital manipulation to inject jazz with a disembodied essence of futuristic nostalgia. She works primarily in sound and has performed at Clearing Gallery, Pioneer Works, the Knockdown Center, and for NADA at Art Basel Miami. Angelina is passionate about building social frameworks to cradle the emotional fallout of technological singularity. She is a 2017 cohort of NEW INC, the New Museum led arts and tech incubator. She has spoken on panels at MoMA PS1, Livestream HQ, and at September Gallery. Past projects include the Body Actualized Center, The Science of Peace, The Rock and Roll Circus at Lincoln Center.
