MOVING SOUNDS FESTIVAL | SONNBERGER & CIRIACO: HERE WHILST WE WALK
Performances on September 19 and 20 start at
11 AM
2 PM
5 PM
In the tradition of the flâneur, Brazilian artist Gustavo Ciriaco and Austrian artist Andrea Sonnberger carefully guide you on an hour-long, silent walk through the streets of Red Hook. Literally bound to the group by a supersized rubber band, you become part of an instant community, a collective spectacle, an ephemeral space, experiencing the sounds and surroundings of the neighborhood. Together, New York’s quietest glimmers of beauty are yours to discover.
Part of Moving Sounds 2015: Liquid Architecture / Frozen Music.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Gustavo Ciríaco is a Brazilian artist based in Rio de Janeiro and in Lisbon. His work combines various artistic disciplines, showing an interest in other knowledge, other fields, other voices; often through people, looking for other ways to cope with everyday life, adding potential, tools and knowledge about how to deal with time and space. He has used choreography, theatre, video, storytelling and urban actions in conversational works where the encounter is the inspiration for fiction and shared situations. www.gustavociria.co
Born in Upper Austria, Andrea Sonnberger was educated as a dancer in Vienna and Munich. She was engaged as a performer in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Russia and Lithuania. Since 1996 she has been working on her own choreographies and ideas, which have also led to installation works and collaborations with other artists. Together with Gustavo Ciríaco she developed the outdoor performance ‘Here whilst we walk’ which they have shown in more than 30 different cities since its creation.
