Gerald Matt takes his monthly TV talk with outstanding personalities from the culture and the arts on tour, starting with New York City. Join us for this exciting debut show, presented by the Austrian Cultural Forum New York, where on two consecutive nights, the one-to-one interviews with Jeffrey Deitch, Michael Kimmemann, Shirin Neshat, and Michael Orthofer will be recorded. The talks will be aired on W24 Television in 2017.
On this second night, Gerald Matt will interview American art dealer and curator Jeffrey Deitch and one of the world’s most prolific book reviewers Michael Orthofer.

ABOUT THE INTERVIEWER
Gerald Mattis an Austrian curator, author, and director of the Vienna Art Institute. He is an associate professor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and the CIAM (Center of International Art Management) in Cologne, where he teaches museum and exhibition management. He also lectures art theory at the Institute of Art History at the University of Innsbruck. From 1996 to 2012 Matt was the director of Kunsthalle Vienna, where he organized dozens of groundbreaking Shows of artists including Edward Hopper, Bruce Nauman, Louise Bourgeois, and Matthew Barney, collaborating with the Centre Pompidou, the Guggenheim Museum and many others. He is the author of many books, among which “Artist talk” (2014); “Gespräche, Austrian Art in the 60ies” (2011), “Economia e gestione di musei d’arte” with Alessia Zorloni (2001, “Kultura i pieniadze, Zarzadzanie muzeum” (2005), “Kommentare zu Kunst, Kultur und Politik” (2006), and “Kunst und Geld, Das Museum, ein Unternehmen” (2001).
ABOUT THE INTERVIEWEES
Jeffery Deitch is an American art dealer and curator. From 2010 to 2013 he was the director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA). From 1979 to 1988, Deitch helped develop and co-manage the art advisory and art finance department at Citibank. In 1980, he became a regular columnist of Flash Art and the first U.S. editor of Flash Art International. From 1988 to 1996 Deitch was a private dealer and art advisor to a number of collectors. In 1996, Deitch opened the Detich Projects Gallery in Soho, New York. His first shows included work by Vanessa Beecroft, Jocelyn Taylor, Nari Ward, and Mariko Mori. An advocate of graffiti art in the 1980s, he introduced New York to street art. He represented the works of artists like Keith Harin and Jeff Koons. Deitch Projects was closed in 2010 after Deitch´s appointment to MOCA. In July 2016, he reopened his Lower Manhattan Gallery at 18 Wooster Street, the space he ran from 1996 to 2010.
Michael Orthoferis one of the world’s most prolific book reviewers and a prominent figure in New York´s literature scene. Born in Graz, Orthofer came with his mother, an artist and architect, to New York as a one-year-old. Orthofer, who kept his Austrian citizenship, spent his summers with his father, a writer. in Austria. After his studies of law, he decided to devote his time and life to books. According to New Yorker magazine, his goal is to read a book a day, averaging about 260 a year. He founded Complete Review, a literary website featuring reviews of novels in English translation, in particular drawing attention to otherwise neglected contemporary works from around the world. In 2005, Time magazine cited Complete Review among one of the 50 coolest websites. In 2016, Orthofer published The Complete Review Guide to Contemporary World Fiction, a reader´s guide to world literature with an emphasis on fiction published since the 1990s.
